We are all exposed to cyber risk, both as individuals and as actuaries. We need to use sensitive data in order to accurately price and value the risks that our employers and clients take on or are exposed to. The Chicago Actuarial Association is once again partnering with DePaul University to present the 3rd Annual Cyber Risk Conference: “The Speed of Change”.

The cyber security landscape is rapidly churning in a dynamic interplay of threats, regulations, and protection. Just as we figure out how to address one risk, a new one takes its place. There is no such thing as a static state in cyber risk.
New technologies, such as the Internet of Things, bring new vulnerabilities. New threats—both individual and state-sponsored—bring new regulations and compliance issues, as well as a race to proactively protect users in an accelerating cycle of change.
These are just a few of the topics we’ll discuss in our three panels addressing the Speed of Change in Cyber Threat, Compliance, and Protection. The conference will begin and end with keynote speakers who are experts in cyber security and will include a lunch as well as a reception, providing opportunities for networking.
