September 2001 Meeting

Speaker: Bob Morand, Partner, D.W. Simpson & Company

Topic: How to Improve Business Communication Skills Through Improvisation
Improvisation is not just a tool to create comedy.  Its fundamentals are the basis for successful, day-to-day communication in the business world and beyond.  The presentation will incorporate a few, fun interactive improvisational games to stimulate how we approach communication in general, and how we can apply these approaches to improve business communication skills.  These games are designed to help with both one-on-one and group presentation scenarios.

Brief Overview of Current Trends in Actuarial Employment
The increasing number of non-traditional opportunities. These types of opportunities can be found in the
financial markets, financial engineering, systems, dot.coms and other quantitative roles.

LAST-MINUTE ADDITION:  San Miguel – Advancing Student Achievement Project, an after-school enrichment program using the Math Pentathlon games.
Suzanne Wille and other volunteers will be there with the games set up, during the hors d'oeuvres, so you can see the games. People who are planning to volunteer but were not able to make it to the latest planning meeting can get some additional training.  Volunteers will be there to answer questions and demonstrate the games.
