TOPIC: Retirement Policy

As the average life expectancy is rising, the sources for retirement income is becoming more important. How do we perceive the risks involved post retirement? What are the options available and how does the economics work for each of them?

Dr. Ostaszewski from Illinois State University will talk to us about the sources of retirement such as:

  • Social Security
  • Pension
  • Defined Contribution
  • Individual Retirement Arrangements (IRAs)

His talk will include the different economics that affect each source, difference between Pension and Insurance, and how annuity markets are more sustainable. He will illustrate with a simplified case study of a public pension plan in Illinois.
